June Customer Survey

June 17th, 2009 through June 26th 2009

How do you as a shop owner feel about giving discounts to assist in consumer's deductibles? We asked similar questions to our customers to see how they felt about this issue. Below are the results of that survey. There were 103 respondents nationwide.

Does your shop offer the consumer any financial assistance (i.e.: discounting your estimate) when it comes to paying their deductible?

26.83%....Never
65.85%....Sometimes
7.32%.......All the time


How often does a consumer ask you to "cover" or "add" their deductible into the repair estimate?

8.54% ......Never
23.17%.....Between 10%-15% of the time
17.07%.... Between 15%-20% of the time
12.20%.... Between 20%-30% of the time
8.54%...... Between 30%-50% of the time
10.98% ....Between 50%-75% of the time
12.20% ....Between 75%-90% of the time
7.32% ......Nearly 100% of the time


How do you feel about the practice of `a body shop discounting their repair estimate to the consumer for the purpose of providing financial assistance on the consumers deductible?

29.27%.....It's an acceptable business practice
48.78%.....It's a poor business practice, but completely ethical
21.95%.....It's unethical


Do you feel legislation should be passed by lawmakers enforcing customers to pay their deductible in full?

21.95%.....Yes
48.78%.....No
29.27%.....Neutral Opinion
